Maddie's Poem

Today at reading time, Maddie wrote a poem when she was working at the writing table.
She read her poem to  the class.
How do you think she went?

We watched this youtube clip about heavy and light objects.
We all held Samara's lunch box. The boys had to find things that were lighter than her lunch box and the girls had to find things that were heavier.

Look at what we found...

The girls found these things that were heavier:

A chair - Elise
My school bag - Jorja
Felt pens in a container - Tara
Jacob's drink bottle filled with water - Poppy
Our crayon container - Maddie
My school bag - Hannah
A heavy magazine - Brooke
A box full of paper - Safira
Our library trolley - Samara

The boys found these things that were lighter:
A pencil - Oliver
A piece of paper - Alexis
Magnify glass - Sam
Tiny stone - Wills
Highlighter - Jacob
A felt - Nicholas
An empty chip packet - Oakley
A piece of paper - Samuel
A crayon - Brady
A basket - Tan An
A counter - Zach

Which Snoopy Weighs the Most???

Today we borrowed some Snoopy toys from Mrs Wong in Room 4.
We lined the toys up in order from heaviest to lightest. First we estimated, then we used the balancing scales to check their weight.

Here is our estimation...

Here are the toys lined up after we have measured their weights...

We think we did a good job at estimating.

Maths Time in Room 3

In maths we have been learning about measuring the weight of different objects.
We have been using words like:
'Measure' - Jacob
'Heavy and light' - Samara
'Which is heaviest?' - Maddie
'Which is the lightest' - Jorja
'Equal, even and estimate' - Else
'Lightest, heaviest and in the middle' - Alexis.

Here are some photos of us using balancing scales to find about which object is the heaviest. First we had to hold the objects in each hand and estimate, then we used the scales to check if we were right.

It's Hailing!!

Today we were sitting in class, listening to Miss Potter read, when all of a sudden we heard giant hail falling on our roof. It sounded like...

'Dripping thunder' - Jacob
'Pitter patter' - Maddie
'Drip drop' - Samara
'Giants stomping on our roof" - Poppy
'A storm above us' - Wills
"A big splash from a sharks tail' - Oakley
'Plonk, bang, crash'- Elise

We ran to the window to have a look. When it had stopped, we put on our jackets, and went out side to look at the hail. It felt like:
'Ice bergs' - Samuel
'Freezing cold' - Samara
'Cold on our tongues' - Jorja
