“Watching the planes land.” Alexis

“Watching the bags go around the conveyor belt.” Samara

“Looking at the plane take off.” Poppy

“Watching the jet plane.” Sam

“When we saw the water spraying out the top of the fire engine.” Jorja

“Watching our bags on the computer as they went on the conveyor belt.” Maddie

“Seeing the jet take off and seeing the new and old fire engines.” Nicholas

“Looking at the fire engines spray water.” Vishvan

“I liked seeing the photos.” Elise

“Watching the adults bags on the computer as they went the X-ray machine.” everyone!

Here is a video of what we got up to (sorry it has taken me so long to upload it - working out how to add photos and movies to make one complete movie tested my iMovie making skills, so I hope it works!)

The All Blacks are playing against England at the Forsyth Bar Stadium in Dunedin tomorrow. We hope they win!

Mrs France taught us a song today and we thought we would share it with you. It is to the tune of
B-I-N-G-O, but we have changed the words and are singing...
"The All Blacks team they are so cool and rugby is their game-o. B-L-A-C-K, B-L-A-C-K,
B-L-A-C-K and rugby is their game-o.

2014 Compassion Fair

Today we had our compassion fair. All the children bought in old toys from home that they don't use any more. We got to have a look at all the toys, and buy the ones we liked. They money we raised is going to help other children who don't have as many toys as us.
Here is what we thought of the compassion fair:

We were being really kind and compassionate today - Poppy
It was really fun because we got to look at our toys in room 5 - Wills
We can't wait to play with our toys at home - Elise
We had a lot of fun at the fair, I really like that I won two lolly pops - Jacob

Look below and see our compassion fair movie - Alexis

Snow Day Info

Thanks to all our parents for their patience and understanding over the last few days regarding school closure and a later start time. The decision to close schools is made in consultation with the Police and Met Service judging the risk of not being able to provide staff for a full day. Decisions are made collectively for all Dunedin primary schools as soon as possible in the day. Please note that there will be no Georgies before school care on days when there is a 10.00am start. Parents are reminded of the following ways to check on possible school closure:
  1. Our school website (www.georgestreet.school.nz) will have the most up-to-date information about possible school closure due to weather conditions. Look for this information on the right-hand side of our home page.
  2. Local radio stations such as Radio Dunedin 99.8FM or MORE FM 97.4FM will broadcast if schools are to open at 10.00am or remain closed for the day.
3. If all else fails, please call or text the school mobile number provided on our main school answerphone message (021 262 9919).

Please note that if the snowfall is light and roads are safe, school will be open as usual. If snow falls during a school day, children will not be sent home early. We will close at the usual time of 3pm. However, if parents or caregivers wish to collect their children before 3pm, that is quite acceptable. Please let the classroom teacher know before taking your child.

What's been happening in Room 3?

No one came to school on Monday because it was a snow day!
Lots of us played in the snow at home. We made snowmen and had snowball fights. Some of us watched movies and others drank hot chocolate. It was a very fun day.

On Tuesday we had some performers come to school. They performed a show called RAPunzel.
We enjoyed it because it was really funny!

Today (Friday) we had lots of fun at discovery. Our favourite things to do were Lego, making cucumber sandwiches, colouring in corgis and making tiaras (we were celebrating the Queens birthday).
The teachers decided to dress up to celebrate the Queens birthday, we think they looked fabulous. Here is Miss Potter dressed as a princess.

Miss Potter was so happy and surprised when she came into Room 3 after morning tea today. ALL the children were sitting nice and quietly in a circle, ready to learn. She thinks we are STARS!
